In order to keep our youngest attendees safe, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Boo Bash portion of the Tupelo Pumpkin Run. The Kids Fun Run and Kids Costume Contest are also canceled as part of the Boo Bash festivities. Tupelo Pumpkin Run 5K will still take place as scheduled.

5K Participants can still pick up their race packets at the following times and locations:

  • Pre-Race Packet Pickup on Friday October 9 from 11AM – 1 PM at the Le Bonheur Tupelo Outpatient Clinic located at 942 Commonwealth Blvd, Tupelo, MS 38804.
  • Race Day packet Pickup on Saturday October 10 from 6:30 AM – 7:45 AM at the Tupelo Pumpkin Run 5k located at Tupelo Fairpark
  • Post Race Packet Pickup on Monday – Thursday, 9 AM – 4 PM at the Le Bonheur Tupelo Outpatient Clinic located at 942 Commonwealth Blvd, Tupelo, MS 38804.
  • If you prefer to avoid the rain you can join us virtually! All registrants will be able to run on your own and post your virtual results for the week following the event. This will allow everyone to participate even if you are not able to join us in person on Saturday. You may still pick up your race packet at any times and locations above. Instructions on how to run and post results virtually will be sent out separately.

Jessie Knight went for a routine ultrasound when she was 20 weeks pregnant. Jessie and her husband, Cory, were excited to see their growing baby but instead they received unexpected news: their baby had several severe medical conditions.

The Knights were referred to a specialist who told them their baby would have major spinal, abdominal and neurological defects. After Katy Mae was born, she was diagnosed with cloacal exstrophy ─ a rare and severe birth defect that caused her organs to develop outside the abdomen. She was also diagnosed with spina bifida, a club foot and hip dysplasia.

The Knights turned to Le Bonheur for treatment.

At Le Bonheur, Katy Mae received care from an orthopedic surgeon and urologist. She has undergone 25 surgeries on her legs, feet, hips, spine and abdomen. While being in the hospital can be scary, according to Jessie, everyone at Le Bonheur, from doctors and nurses to respiratory therapists and Child Life specialists, makes Katy Mae and her family feel well cared for and heard.

Katy Mae is also able to receive care closer to her Mississippi home at the Le Bonheur Tupelo Outpatient Center.

“It’s such a blessing to be able to go to the Tupelo clinic and not have to drive more than two hours to Memphis to get a five-minute X-ray,” Jessie said. “We have also been able to get her leg braces fit there. This has made a huge difference for our family and enables us to spend more time with our other two children.”

Today, 18-year-old Katy Mae is thriving. She is walking, a milestone her family was unsure if she would reach. Katy Mae also recently achieved a monumental goal by graduating high school with her class.

Virtual Run

If you prefer to compete virtually, you can! Complete your run between 6pm, October 9th and Noon, October 12th, and log your time online. All times must be logged by Noon. on October 12th. Run or walk your favorite route at your convenience and support Le Bonheur! Join participants from around the world as we help Le Bonheur patients and their families.
