Le Bonheur Pumpkin Run
Tupelo, MS
October 18, 2025
Finn was transferred to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit when he was just 1 day old. When he arrived, his oxygen levels had dropped so much that he was turning blue. At Le Bonheur his doctors quickly discovered the cause – seizure activity. Finn spent six weeks in the NICU receiving the specialized care only Le Bonheur can provide.
When Finn was discharged, foster parents Sarah and Aaron Busby received the call that would change their lives forever about a tiny little boy who needed a home. In the next six months with the Busbys, it became increasingly clear that Finn’s development wasn’t following the expected path as he experienced feeding difficulties, swallowing issues and missed milestones.
At 9 months old, Finn stopped making eye contact, he no longer tracked objects and his vision seemed impaired. Finn experienced a seizure in Sarah’s arms and was rushed by ambulance to Le Bonheur from a local hospital near their Mississippi home. In the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), doctors discovered that he was experiencing infantile spasms and his seizure activity had caused cortical vision impairment, essentially shutting off Finn’s ability to process vision.
Finn underwent extensive genetic testing at Le Bonheur and was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called KBG syndrome that caused his seizures, developmental delays and low muscle tone. Since then, Finn has been under the watchful care of multiple Le Bonheur specialties, including cardiology, neurology, ophthalmology, genetics, urology, gastroenterology and ear, nose and throat (ENT).
“I cannot imagine going anywhere else for Finn’s care. The expertise, compassion and dedication at Le Bonheur have given our little boy the best possible chance to thrive,” Sarah said. “Finn’s journey is one of resilience, love and the power of a hospital that truly changes lives. We are forever grateful.”
In February of 2023, Sarah and Aaron officially adopted Finn, making him a permanent part of the Busby family.
